Ir. Hajah Fatimah Haji Md Ali, Head of Board Management Division (BMD), Ministry of Development, Brunei

Ir. Hajah Fatimah is the Head of Board Management Division (BMD), Ministry of Development. She holds the responsibility to oversee three boards which are Board of Architects, Professional Engineers and Quantity Surveyors (BAPEQS), Board of Housing Developers (BHD), and Board of Valuers and Estate Agents (BoVEA).

Ir. Hajah Fatimah also the Registrar for the Board of Architects, Professional Engineers and Quantity Surveyors (BAPEQS), Brunei Darussalam where she is responsible to register the Architects, Professional Engineers and Quantity Surveyors; register practicing certificate to supply architectural , professional engineering and surveying services, review conduct and ethics of the professionals,  and coordinate professional assessment. She was also appointed as the committee members of the International Affairs Engineering Division and the Brunei Engineering Monitoring for ASEAN, Qualification and Examination, Discipline and Ethics, Act and Regulations for the BAPEQS, Brunei Darussalam.

Heru Dewanto, Chairman, Association of Engineering Education of South East Asia and the Pacific (AEESEAP)

Heru Dewanto is a Civil Engineer from Yogyakarta’s Universitas Gajahmada. He continued his Post-Graduate Study in Railways and Public Transport in Universitat Innsbruck (Austria) then acquire his Masters Degree in Transport Planning and Engineering from Great Britain’s Leeds University. He earned his Doctoral degree from the University of Indonesia (UI) in investment performance of Indonesia’s electrical utility industry.

He currently heads the Institution of Engineers Indonesia (PII) as President-elect, Secretary General of Indonesian Electrical Power Society, President of AEESEAP (Association of Engineering Education in Southeast, East Asia and the Pacific) and Vice President of AAET (ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology).

Before entering into academic area, he had over 2 decades of experience leading national and multi-national Infrastructure corporations. During the course of his career, he handled a wide range of Infrastructure Projects, including Power Plant, Toll Roads, Railway, LRT, Waste and Water Management, and multi-storey Housing. Today, Heru also serves as President Director of Cirebon Power, a multi-national company operating 1x660MW Supercritical Clean Coal Power Plant and 1x1000MW Ultra-Supercritical Power Plant in Cirebon West Java. Working with a vision of Sustainable Development through Clean Coal Technology, put him in the center of the 35GW Mega Project.

Prof. Reynaldo B. Vea, President, Mapua University, Philippines

Dr. Reynaldo B. Vea is currently the President and CEO of Mapua University.

He is currently the Chairman of the Engineering Sciences and Technology Division of the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) of the Philippines.

Dr. Vea was formerly Dean of the College of Engineering of the University of the Philippines (UP), and he once served as the President of the Association for Engineering Education in Southeast Asia and the Pacific (AEESEAP).

Dr. Vea has a PhD in Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, an SM in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering, magna cum laude, from the University of the Philippines.

Prof. Loh Han Tong, Deputy President (Academic) & Provost, Singapore Institute of Technology

Professor Loh Han Tong is the Deputy President (Academic) & Provost of Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). Professor Loh was instrumental in steering the strategic development of SIT’s first degree programmes and the transformation of the overseas degree programmes into SIT-overseas partners’ joint programmes. He oversees the university’s academic policies and curriculum, applied learning and applied research, faculty development and student administration. Professor Loh was a Colombo Plan Scholar, who graduated with First Class Honours in Bachelor of Engineering from University of Adelaide, Australia in 1979. He went on to obtain his Masters of Engineering from NUS in 1983 and his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, United States of America in 1989 under the NUS Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship. Prior to joining SIT, Professor Loh spent over 30 years as an academic staff in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Professor Loh has been appointed a Board Member of the Engineering Accreditation Board since 1 May 2016. He is also a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Singapore. For his dedication to the educational sector, he was awarded the Pingat Bakti Setia (Long Service Award) by the Prime Minister’s Office in 2013. In recognition of his strong academic leadership at SIT, Professor Loh was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver) on National Day 2018.

Prof. Chong Tow Chong, President & Acting Provost, Singapore University of Technology and Design

Professor Chong Tow Chong was appointed President of the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) in April 2018. He had been SUTD’s founding Provost since 2010, where he played an instrumental role in steering the strategic development and operationalisation of SUTD. As President, he provides leadership and guidance in the next phase of the University’s growth and development, as well as ensuring continuity in the pursuit of SUTD’s vision, mission and strategic goals.

Prior to joining SUTD, Prof Chong had been the Executive Director of A*STAR’s Science and Engineering Research Council and Data Storage Institute for 15 years. He also had a 30-year academic career with the National University of Singapore as Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Prof Chong authored and co-authored over 400 publications in international refereed journals, presented over 35 invited talks and registered 25 patents. He was recipient of the President’s Science and Technology Medal, the Public Administration Medal (Silver), the ASME ISPS Division Leadership in Research and Development Award and the Teaching Excellence Award from NUS.

He received his B.Eng from Tokyo Institute of Technology, M.Eng from NUS and Sc.D from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, all in Electrical Engineering.

Prof. Chuah Hean Teik, President, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia

Dr. Chuah Hean Teik is the President of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Malaysia. His research interests include microwave remote sensing and applied electromagnetics. He has authored/co-authored more than 260 international journal and conference papers. He has received many awards such as 1995 Young Scientist Award by the Malaysian Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment; 1999 Malaysian Toray Science Foundation Science and Technology Award; 2011 IET Malaysia Outstanding Achievement Award; 2016 Taiwan Professional Education and Culture Medal; 2017 AFEO Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award; and the 2018 Distinguished Honorary Mentor Award by Myanmar Engineering Council.

Dr. Chuah is the President of ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology, Past President of the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific and IEM. He is a Senior Fellow of the Academy of Sciences, Malaysia, Fellow of IET and IEEE. He is a member of the Malaysian Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia.

Dr. Lydia G. Tansinsin, ACBET Chair, Accreditation of Engineering Programs in the Philippines

Presently, the Chairman of the Accreditation and Certification Board for Engineering and Technology (ACBET). Founding and charterd president of the Philippine Technologial Council (PTC) in 1978 with 14 engineering organizations as members and Chartered Chairperson of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations (AFEO) in 1980. Founding member of the ASEAN Association of Engineers and Technologists (AAET) in 2004 based in Malaysia and Senior Fellow of the Academy of Engineering and Technology of the Developing World (AETDW). Was Chair of the Committee on Human Resource Development for Industrial Technology (APEC-HURDIT) of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) during her employment at the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

Former Cabinet Assistant Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and later Acting Cabinet Undersecretary of the same Department and retired under the compulsory program of the government in 1998. Was also former Chair of the Licensure Board of Examiner for Chemical Engineering at the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) of the Philippines, 1987-1995.

In the local scene, was the first lady president of the following: Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers (PICHE) after 33 years of existence; the Phil Association for the Advancement of Science (PHILAAS) now PHILAAST, 1997-2003;; Society of Pilipino Accredited Consultants (SPAC); Past member of the Board of Trustees, College of the Holy Spirit (CHS), Mendiola, Manila, 1995-2003; Past President of Zonta Club of Pateros and Taguig, 2002-2004. Presently, the President of : NRCPRFI Foundation, Inc. and the PHILAJAMES Foundation, Inc.

Outstanding Engineer for 2016 Award from the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP); First 10 Excellence Award (Oct 17, 2005) given by the Philippine Federation of Professional Associations (PFPA), with 44 Associations as members; Outstanding Chemical Engineer given by the PRC, 1985; Outstanding Alumni for Science and Technology, University of Santo Tomas (UST) 2001; Outstanding Engineer, College of Engineering, UST, 1982 and a Thomasian Hall of Fame (UST Engineering) 2000; Award of Recognition for Science and Technology, College of the Holy Spirit Foundation, Inc., 2001; 100 Outstanding Alumni of the College of the Holy Spirit Centennial, 2013; Dangal ng Lipi Awardee 1995 (Science and Technology), 1995, Lalawigan ng Bulacan;

Project Director, the Engineering and Science Education Program, with World Bank and Japanese government loan agreement worth US$80 million in 1982-1984. The universities and colleges that participated in the program have to be evaluated in terms of their faculty, students, infrastructure, budget, salaries and incentives if any, and the whole institutional administrative and management systems for its effectiveness to ensure the full utilization of the facilities and scholarships extended as a grant from the Philippine Government.

Doug Hargreaves, Executive Officer, Australian Council of Engineering Deans

Professor Doug Hargreaves was awarded an AAUT Citation for Outstanding contribution to student learning in 2015. In June 2014, he was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for outstanding and significant contribution to engineering education and to the community. He has published over 200 scholarly papers, about 50 of which are related to engineering education. He retired from full-time work as an academic at the Queensland University of Technology in December 2014. He was National President of Engineers Australia with about 100 000 members in 2010, a position that clearly demonstrates his wide and accepted reputation in the profession.

He is currently the Executive Officer for the Australian Council of Engineering Deans (ACED), a role that calls on his extensive range of contacts both nationally and internationally. His extensive knowledge and understanding of teaching and learning provides valuable insight into potential research projects in engineering but also in the areas of STEM [Science technology Engineering and Mathematics]. He is also on the Steering Group for the ACED project “Engineering 2035”.

Er. Donnalyn Cabaces, Associate Professor, Batangas State University, Philippines

Engr. Donnalyn Caag Cabaces is an Associate Professor of Batangas State University, Philippines. She is an ASEAN Engineer and a Professional Mechanical Engineer. She practices her profession in teaching in the Mechanical and Petroleum Engineering Department under the College of Engineering, Architecture and Fine Arts for 17 years. She served as an Assistant Director for Research particularly, Engineering, Science and Technology Research; Assistant Director for Intellectual Property Management, Product and Technology Assessment and Commercialization and Department of the ME and PetE programs of the university.

Dr. Michael A. Aloria, Professor, Batangas State University, Philippines

Dr. Michael A. Aloria is an ASEAN Engineer, a full-time Professor of the College of Engineering, Architecture & Fine Arts of Batangas State University, Philippines under the Department of Mechanical and Petroleum Engineering.  He is a graduate of Doctor of Technology (Manila, Philippines), Master of Petroleum Engineering (Western Australia), Master of Engineering major in Mechanical Engineering (Manila, Philippines) and BS Mechanical Engineering (Batangas, Philippines).  He has more than 22 years academic experience as Mechanical and Petroleum Engineer.   He served Batangas State University since 1992 and held various key positions in the university, from Department Head, Director, Dean, Executive Director to Vice President for Academic Affairs. His fervour for teaching made him continuously strive for academic excellence and pursue professional development endeavours such as trainings, seminars, research conferences, both local and abroad. His research interests include environmental and energy management, technology and system improvements, and Outcomes-based education (OBE).  He presented research papers in various national and international research conferences. He also published researches in some engineering refereed journals.

Ir. Rudy Purwondho, Lecturer, Bina Nusantara University, Indonesia

Mr. Rudy Purwondho is the Lecturer of the Engineering Profession Program, Faculty of Engineering, Bina Nusantara University – Jakarta, Indonesia. He is one of the lecturers from industry practitioners who are responsible for developing and adding to the professional capabilities of engineers who will carry out engineering work and engineering practices in Indonesia.

He is one of the lecturers who also responsible in engineering education to increase the engineers contribution to the community and engineers community with improving the ability and competence of the engineers in facing the challenges of the world of work through his long experiences as businessman, manufacturing expertise and engineering contractors.

He is also in charge of industrial management, manufacturing management and contractor work in one of group of company in Jakarta.

Mr. Rudy Purwondho as the Secretary of the National Committee for Professional Engineer Study Programs – Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education and also as Chairman of the Committee on Development of Engineering Liability – The Institution of Engineers, Indonesia which also responsible to assists and gives feedback to the government in engineering education policies and implementation of engineering education program.

Ir. Rocky H.T. Wong, Board of Engineers, Malaysia-National Monitoring Committee/Engineering Accreditation Council/Engineering Technologist Accreditation Council

By Ir. Rocky H.T. Wong, FIEM – a member of BEM Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC); BEM Engineering Technologist Accreditation Council (ETAC); WA appointed Accreditation Expert (Industry) in a 3-man International Panel to evaluate (2015) Engineers Australia renewal of WA signatory status; and BEM National Monitoring Committee (NMC), which among other portfolios, represents Malaysia as the Jurisdiction to IEA.

Er. Marianne B. Calayag, Department Head, Industrial Engineering, College of Engineering, Bulacan State University 

Marianne B. Calayag is an ASEAN and Professional Industrial Engineer. She earned her Master of Science in Manufacturing Engineering in Bulacan State University, Philippines and her Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering in Mapua Institute of Technology, Philippines. She is a full time faculty for thirteen years and currently the Department Head of Industrial Engineering in the Bulacan State University. She also worked as an Analyst in a Data Processing Industry for two years and a Material Controller in a tobacco manufacturing industry. She presented several researches in local and international fora.

Er. Federico A. Monsada, Member, CHED Technical Panel for Engineering & Technology

Engr Monsada is a Professional Metallurgical Engineer & General Engineering Manager who has practiced his engineering profession in the mining, minerals and metals manufacturing industries for four decades now. After obtaining his degree from the University and his professional engineers license with highest place from the Philippine Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), he entered government service and stayed there for almost 3 years leading a team of researchers on iron, gold and silver, chromite, nickel laterites, and refractory materials. He was lured by the challenges of the heavy manufacturing industries and, thus, moved there in 1981 where he worked for almost twenty years, rising from the ranks to become the Chief Metallurgist and subsequently, the Corporate Head of Engineering and Technology Management of one of the biggest iron and steel manufacturing complex in the country. While still with the steel company, he also lectured at the nearby State University and concurrently served as the youngest-ever member of the 3-man Professional Regulatory Board for Metallurgical Engineering under the PRC for almost nine years. In 1999 he founded his own engineering and management consulting company together with his colleagues from the University and the industry and became its first Chairman and CEO. Since then, he has consulted on metallurgical engineering, minerals processing, quality and environmental management, industrial feasibility studies and policy for both the government and the private sector. In 2005 he was elected into the Board of the Philippine Technological Council (PTC) while concurrently serving as the President of the Society of Metallurgical Engineers of the Philippines (SMEP). He became the President of PTC in 2010 which gave him the impetus to spearhead the development and implementation of the PTC Certification and Accreditation System for Engineering Education (or CASEE) in the country. This eventually led to the entry of PTC as a Provisional Member to the Washington Accord of the International Engineering Alliance and the recognition of the same PTC CASEE by the Federation of Engineering Institution of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP). Engr Monsada is still currently the PTC President and the Chairman of the APEC Engineer Register National Monitoring Committee-Philippines, He also serves as member of the Technical Panel for Engineering & Technology of the Commission on Higher Education, the advisory council for higher education on engineering and technology. He was the Former Chair of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations Governing Body in 2016 and the 3rd member of the ASEAN Monitoring Committee for Engineering Services in the Philippines administer the registration of engineers under the MRA for Engineering Services. Engr. Monsada is an AFEO Honorary Fellow and an ASEAN Engineer. He was also awarded as the Philippine Outstanding Professional Engineer in Metallurgical Engineering by the PRC in 2016. Engr. Monsada continues to give back to society in every opportunity he has. He is a civic leader having served Rotary International as its President and later Assistant District Governor for a big part of Mindanao. He is married to Zenaida, the former Secretary (Minister) of Energy in the Philippines and they have three children, now all professionals in their own rights.

Dr. Ricardo Pama, Chairman, CHED Technical Panel for Engineering & Technology

Dr. Ricardo P. Pama is an engineer by training and profession. He holds a BS degree in Civil Engineering from the Mapuá Institute of Technology, a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and a PhD degree in Civil Engineering from Scotland’s oldest university, the University of St Andrews.

Being an engineer did not give him the satisfaction of the life and career he was searching for, so he diversified into the field of the academe and has stayed in this profession for over 50 years starting as Assistant Lecturer in 1965, then Lecturer and Research Fellow at St Andrews University. In 1970, he moved to the Asian Institute of Technology, the first Post Graduate School of Engineering in the whole of Asia. He stayed at the AIT for 26 years, going through academic ranks as Professor, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Vice President for Development, raising US $250M for scholarships, faculty secondment and infrastructure development.

After 34 years abroad, he decided to return home to the Philippines, to render service to his country. He worked for a while as President of an International Engineering Consultancy firm in Manila, but his desire to inspire the youth for more meaningful and useful life motivated him to return to academic life. In 1999, he became President of Baguio Colleges Foundation which he later turned into a university, now called the University of the Cordilleras. In 2004, he transferred to Angeles University Foundation as President. In 2009, the Board of the University of the Cordilleras invited him to return as President again. To his credit, he turned these two institutions to be among the top 15 universities in the country. He retired from academic life in 2014.

Dr. Pama is a prolific writer having published three textbooks in Engineering and over 100 technical papers in referred international Journals.

In recognition of his outstanding accomplishments, he is recipient of the following awards:  HENRY ADAMS AWARD from the Institution of Structural Engineers, London, England in 1969 for his meritorious research work.

BANAAG AWARD, a Presidential Award presented by President Corazon C. Aquino in 1990 for being the Outstanding Filipino Professional Overseas.


LE ORDE DE PALME ACADEMIQUE, an award presented by the Government of France in 1986 for Outstanding Development work. This award was established by Napoleon Bonaparte.

AIT HALL OF FAME AWARD for being one of the Outstanding Alumni of AIT in 2012.

At present he serves as Chairman of the Technical Panel for Engineering and Technology of CHED; he sits as a Trustee on the Board of the AIT, and Angeles University Foundation, and is currently the Secretary General of the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP), comprising about 250 colleges and universities all over Asia and the Pacific Region.

Dr. May Rose Imperial, Senior Director, Academic Services, Far Eastern University Institute of Technology, Philippines

Prof. Misri Gozan, Chairman, Executive Committee, Indonesia Accreditation Board for Engineering Education

Prof. Dr.-ing. Misri Gozan is currently the Chair for Indonesian Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (IABEE). He has been a board member of Chemical Engineering Chapter at the Institution of Engineers Indonesia (PII). A member of expert team for the Ministry of Marine and Fisheries (KKP) since 2011 and founder of the Indonesian Salt Expert Association (HAGI).  He was graduated from the Gas and Petrochemical Engineering Department (later became Chemical Engineering) Universitas Indonesia (B.Eng.) in 1993. His Master of Technology degree was from Process and Environmental Engineering, Massey University, New Zealand (1996). In 2004 he finished his Doctor-Ingineur from Faculty of Geology, Forestry and Hydrology, TU Dresden, Germany. After returning from Germany, he continued to work as senior lecturer at Chemical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia, and became Professor since 2013.

Dr. Eiji Komatsu, CEO, Laboratory for Ecological Reconstruction Science Inc

Dr. Komatsu is CEO Laboratory for Ecological Reconstruction Science Inc (LERCS). located in Yokohama, also an assistant professor at Centre for Environmental Law, Meiji University.

Dr. Komatsu received the PhD. degree in field of Environmental Science from the University of Tsukuba Graduate School of Life and Environmental Sciences, and has many experience of regulatory impact assessment for legal framework, regulation standards in air/water/climate change, and also strategic environmental conservation planning and sustainable development as NIES fellow in National Institute for Environmental Studies and lecturer and/or researcher in several University; Tsukuba University, Tohoku University and Kokushikan University, Meiji University mentioned above. Dr. Komatsu also manage the venture company of LERCS where conduct R&D and consulting on environmental technology and formation of environmental policy and planning.

Prof. Leong Wai Yie, Dean of Engineering and Information Technology, Mahsa University, Malaysia

Wai Yie is currently the Dean of Engineering and Information Technology, Mahsa University. Wai Yie is currently the EXCOMM Member, Council Member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia and Immediate Chairman of Women Engineers Section, Malaysia. Board of Directors of International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists, Honorary Secretary of Women Engineers, The ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (WEAFEO), the only lady Vice Chairman of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (Malaysia Local Network) and Committee Member of World Federation of Engineering Organisation (Women in Engineering Committee). She is specialized in medical signal processing and telecommunications research. Wai Yie  has received the Women Engineer of the Year 2018, IEM Presidential of Excellence Award 2016 & 2015, INTI Outstanding Alumni Award for Academic Excellence 2016,  She is specialized in medical signal processing and telecommunications, and has received the Ten Outstanding Young Malaysian 2017, Top Research Scientists Malaysia 2017,  ASEAN Meritorious Service Award 2017, IEM Best Paper Award 2015, MRRI2013 Best Paper Award 2013, Richard Jago Research Prize in 2004 and Trailblazer Innovation Award in 2005, in Australia.

Mr. Soy Ty, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs, Institute of Technology of Cambodia, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport

Dr. Siow Chun Lim, Senior Lecturer, Multimedia University, Malaysia

Siow Chun Lim obtained his Bachelor of Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Ph. D in Electrical Power Engineering from University Putra Malaysia, Selangor. His research interests include electrical grounding systems, lightning protection and engineering education. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at Multimedia University where he also serves as the Secretary of Centre for Electric Energy and Automation (CEEA). He is also the General Committee of the Electrical Engineering Technical Division (EETD) (2018-2019) as well as the Honorary Secretary/Treasurer of the National Working Group of ASEAN Engineering Inspectorate (Electrical Installation). Siow Chun Lim was the IEC Young Professional 2017 representing Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) and Malaysia to participate in the IEC young professional programme. He is also a PSMB certified Train-the-Trainer since 2018.

Er. Prof. Dr. Charlie Than, President, Myanmar Engineering Council

Engr. Prof. Dr. Charlie Than is current President of Myanmar Engineering Council (MEngC). He graduated with the bachelor of mechanical engineering from Rangoon Institute of Technology since 1974, and got PG certificate in Naval Architecture from University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK in 1991, master degree and also doctorate of Marine Engineering from Defense Services Technological Academy since 2008. He is the Chartered Engineer and Chartered Marine Engineer (UK). He started his career in the field of inland water transport, shipbuilding and design, shallow draft Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering for over twenty six years experiences with distinguished public services. He served as Pro-Rector (academic and administration) and also as Rector in Myanmar Maritime University from 2002 to 2013. He is Ex-Co member of Federation of Engineering Institutions in Asia and Pacific. He has been awarded various prestigious awards like as Fellow of many organizations including the Royal Institutions of Naval Architects and Institution of the Marine Engineering, Science and Technology, and ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology. He is also an honorable member of ASEAN Federation of Engineers Organization. In 2013, he led the development with the objective of ensuring Continual Quality Improvement (CQI) practice for Technological Universities/ Institutions as the Chairman of Engineering Education Accreditation Committee (EEAC) of Myanmar Engineering Council. He had built up the international relations between MEngC and regional engineering organizations. He has been contributed his time for being Myanmar Engineers, Technicians and Technologists that can satisfactorily fulfil the needs of international standard and quality in their engineering professions and playing major role in the development and implementation for the final and ultimate goal of MEngC; that is to raise engineering education level of Myanmar to achieve signatory status in Washington Accord and the member of International Professional Engineers Agreement.

Dr. Siong S. Tang, Head of Quality Assurance Department/Acting Head School of Science and Engineering, Politeknik Brunei

Siong Tang is currently working at Politeknik Brunei. He holds two portfolios, as Head of Quality Assurance and Acting Head of School for Science and Engineering. As the Head of Quality Assurance (QA), he is responsible for the successful attainment of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) certification in November 2017.

Beside his QA duties as the Acting Head of School of Science and Engineering, he was responsible for the setting up of the School in January 2015. Among some of the tasks involved were recruitment, training and mentoring process, development of curriculum and Innovative teaching, development of Apprenticeship programme, as well as tendering and procurement process. To date, the School has successfully produced a total of 295 Diploma graduates in various disciplines; Chemical Laboratory Technology, Interior Design, Architecture and Engineering (Electrical, Telecommunications, Civil, Mechanical and Petroleum).

Siong completed his PhD at University of Western Australia, Masters (with Merit) in Mobile and Broadband Communications Network at University of Kent, UK, Post Graduate Certificate (with Distinction) in Technical Education from Universiti Brunei Darussalam and Bachelor’s Degree (First Class Honours) in Telecommunications Systems at Anglia Ruskin University, UK.

Siong is a member of Australasia Association for Engineering Education (AAEE), Pertubuhan Ukur Jurutera dan Arkitek (PUJA) Brunei and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), U.K.  Siong is an active member of the IET Brunei network and currently he is the Chair for the IET Communities Committee for the Asia Pacific Region (CC-AP).

Ir. Dr. Tan Chee Fai, Malaysia Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Institution of Engineers Malaysia

Ir. Dr. Tan Chee Fai has more than 18 years of experience in manufacturing industry. He is actively involved in strategic and technical consultation as well as research, design and development of smart systems. Currently, he is the Chief Technical Officer of Robolab Technology Sdn. Bhd. Ir. Dr. Tan is actively consulting and assists manufacturing industry towards Industry 4.0 especially in relation to Intelligent Manufacturing: Robotic Systems, Big Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security. Fraunhofer IEM is the technical partner institution of Robolab Technology Sdn. Bhd. He has led various Industry, University and Malaysia Government as well as International Funded Projects. He was invited as Keynote Speaker in various important international engineering events such as World Intelligent Manufacturing Summit (WIMS) at Nanjing, China, Intelligent Manufacturing Seminar on Collaboration to Boost the Economic Development of Belt and Road Areas, Parallel Session of the 20th Annual Meeting of China Association for Science and Technology and ICE-IEM Future Engineers Conference. He was the UNESCO Individual Specialist. Ir. Dr. Tan currently the Vice Chairman of SMI Sub-Committee, Federation of Malaysia Manufacturers Selangor Branch. Based on his contribution to the engineering community, Ir. Dr. Tan is the JCI Ten Outstanding Young Malaysian Award Honoree in 2014.

Dr. N. Krishnamurthy, Trainer & Consultant, Safety, Structures and Computer Applications

Currently a Consultant in Safety, Structures and Computer Applications, Dr. N. Krishnamurthy has six decades of teaching, research and consultancy experience in Structures, Computer Applications, Workplace Safety and Risk Management in USA, Singapore, and India.  He was Professor of Civil Engineering at Auburn University, Vanderbilt University, and University of Alabama in Birmingham in USA., in the last of which he was also Department Head. He was Professor of Civil Engineering and ran a Computer Academy in Mysore, India. In Singapore, he taught at NUS and UniSIM, and teaches at the University of Newcastle (Australia) – PSB campus. He has conducted sponsored research in USA and Singapore. Dr. Krishnamurthy has authored more than a hundred refereed papers and general articles, and eight books. He brings to his presentation his wealth of experience with a wide variety of topics in three cultures.

Prof. Lim Kok Hwa, Associate Professor & Program Director, Singapore Institute of Technology

A/Prof. Lim Kok Hwa is the Program Director of B.Eng. Pharmaceutical Engineering (PHE) Program in SIT. A/Prof. Lim graduated with B.Sc. (1st Class Hons) and M.Sc. (Chemical Engineering) from NUS. He obtained his doctorate from TUM under the DAAD Fellowship. A/Prof. Lim was a Visiting Scholar at Northwestern University under the Tan Chin Tuan Exchange Fellowship. A/Prof. Lim developed the international collaborations together with SIT Global Experiences Division. These allow PHE students to enrich their learning experience by embarking on international programmes such as the Overseas Exposure Programme, International Internship Programme, Student Exchange Programme and Overseas Integrated Work Study Programme.

He Fulin, Senior Specialist (Styling), Office of Education, Singapore University of Technology and Design

Fulin is Senior Specialist under the office of education; as well as full-time instructor in SUTD. He worked as a Car Designer in Fiat (Italy), specializing in the vehicle’s exterior body design and styling for mass production, before joining SUTD in 2016. On top of his instructor role, he is also the design mentor to the students of the EV club and assisting the Fablab with 3D design support for additive manufacturing.

Dr. Ong Eng Hong, Director of Academics, SUTD Academy and Director, Office of Education, Singapore University of Technology and Design

Dr Ong Eng Hong is director of academics, Singapore University of Technology and Design Academy (SUTD Academy), as well as director of Office of Education, Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).  He obtained his B.Eng (Hons) and PhD in mechanical engineering from the National University of Singapore.

Dr Ong has rich experiences in management, strategic planning, R&D and tertiary teaching.  Prior to joining SUTD in 2013, he was a division manager and a senior scientist with Data Storage Institute (DSI), a national research laboratory under the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) in Singapore.  He was the chair of the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) ISPS (Information Storage and Processing Systems) division for 2013-2014.

As director of academics, SUTD Academy, he is leading the continuous education and training initiative to help working professionals up-skill or re-skill themselves to stay relevant in the fast evolving job market by designing and curating relevant training programmes and courses, among other things.   As director of office of education, SUTD, he is currently contributing to the smart campus initiative, exploring how to take technology-enabled learning to the next level of excellence with state-of-the-art technologies in augmented/virtual/mixed reality, artificial intelligence, internet of things, robotics, etc.

Assoc. Prof. Sarithdej Pathanasethpong, Board Member, Council of Engineers and Chairman of Thailand Accreditation Board of Engineering Education (TABEE)

Prof. Megat Johari Megat Mohd Noor, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia

Prof Ir Megat Johari was the Founding Director of the Engineering Accreditation Department at the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and currently serving as Council Members of the Engineering Accreditation Council and Engineering Technology Accreditation Council of BEM. He was instrumental to Malaysia’s accession to Washington, Sydney and Dublin Accords. Prior to the appointment as Director, Prof Ir Megat Johari was the Head of Quality Assurance at the Faculty of Engineering and Head of Civil Engineering Department at Universiti Putra Malaysia. His involvement in professional societies includes as current President of Malaysian Society for Engineering & Technology (MySET), former Vice-President of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia, and Deputy President of the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Islamic Countries (FEIIC). He is also a current Board Member of BEM and chairing its Examination and Qualification Committee. Prof. Ir Megat Johari was the Founding Dean of Malaysia Japan International Institute of Technology at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia UTM), Kuala Lumpur Campus and had served as Director of Quality Assurance & Risk Management (QRIM) for UTM. Trained for lead auditor for quality and environment management systems, he has conducted numerous training programmes on accreditation and outcome-based education as well as quality and environmental management systems both locally and overseas. He has published over 300 research and academic papers in the field of environmental engineering and engineering education. He is engaged by the Ministry of Education in developing the Malaysian Assessment tools; MyRA, MyQUEST, Polyrate, MySpekk and MyIBG.
